I got a set of chrome calipers and I can't get them to quit seeping. There's not a drip but they are wet. They are as tight as I can make them, I took the calipers apart to check the seals, they look good. I checked to make sure there was no grit or anything under the chrome that wasn't allowing it to seal properly but that looked good too. I even went ahead and replaced the seals since I was there and it's exactly the same. A friend of mine bought chromed stock calipers from a chromer on eBay and his do the same thing. The worst part about it is after a couple months I think the fluid gets contaminated and causes the brake to not release and locks up.
Are they leaking form where the line connects? Are they leaking from where the halves bolt together? Are they leaking from the bore for the piston? What type of calipers are they? Pictures might help? ... Clean fresh sealed brake fluid is not going to go bad in a few months.
They are leaking from in between the halves. The fitting and bleeder screw is tight and not leaking. Both sets of calipers are stock Harley that were chromed by different chromers.
Mine did the same exact thing. Bought a kit to replace the seals and they still seeped. I just think the Brembos have such a close tolerance that the layers from chroming won't allow it to match up as close. I went back to stock and added the airwing chrome covers.

Yea it may be a tight tolerance thing. Did you have any issues with your brakes having a really hard pull, very little travel when you pulled the brake or locking up? All this started happening when I chromed the calipers and replaced the master and hand controls with chrome...
Is there any way to split, and remove chrome in case it was plated somewhere it should not have been? Such as mating or sealing surfaces?
My mechanic tried that but the chrome was chipping and flaking into and around the o rings. Thats why I finally gave up. I could have replaced with a chrome one
from Performance Machine or other manufacture but just wasnt excited about spending that kind of cash.
