I have an 06 ultra I am still riding to work. The mornings are in the teens and upper 30 lower 40s on way home. I am running Duolec vari-purpose oil Iso 220/sae110. I notice that it spits a small amount of oil out breather tube so I guess my question is is this to thick of an oil to be running. if so i guess I will call it a season. Any help would be appreciated thanks
I do allow engine to warm before leaving and run in 3rd gear to 4th gear for first 1/4-1/2 mile to let tranny to warm up hopefully. I dont want to destroy anything
I will look I didnt do that yet(dummy) this is what my indy has me running hes not open right now and i want to ride in am but temp will be around 14-18 degrees. couldnt find much online about temp on website
I'd look at the owners manual for transmission lubricant recommendations in those temperatures. I'd definately be running a high quality synthetic version of the recommended gear oil as well (this does not include HD's Syn3).
You could also give Redline a call. Those guys make some of the best gear oils and could help you get the right stuff for the temps you are in.
1-How far do you ride to work ?
2-If ti is under 10 miles oil not quite hot.
3-When you are warming up your bike can you put a bear hand on the rear cylinders
top rocker box cover and is it hot or warm ?
4-Oil may be to high of vescosity.
