Default Wheels

Hello new to the forum. Was thinking of putting a 21 wheel on the front and a 18 in the rear on my 04 rd king. I've seen it donebut hows the ride/preformance? Also will the 21front wheel fit in the stock fender without any changes. Was also thinking of doing away with the dual calipers and replacing it with one six pistion caliper. Hows the stopping. Thx for the help.

Welcome to the forum. I myself think that the handling and performance are improved. Stock fender is good, if clearance is close, then simply opening the mounting holes slightly to allow the fender to be rocked is all that is necessary. I have no expirience with 6-pistonbrake calipersand how one of those compares to 2 of the stockers, but I know more is better. So don't skimp and go with what the others, as I am sure there will be, recommend.

Thanks for the reply. It looks like you have replaced your fender with a smaller one. Which brand?

In riding 21 Front 18 rear as well as on my 2004 Road King with the 1 inch lower air shocks for the rear and a 1 1/4 drop on the front forks, bike handles well, you will not have any issues with the finder and a 21" fits just fine

Brakes, That I have not swapped so I will remain quiet

My front fender is a stock fatboy front fender with custom mounting brackets because the harley adapter brackets would not lift the fender high enough to mount the tire

I just got the 21" front and the 18" rear...Love them.
Had Metz put on them, it rides about the same, and handles much better, it really loves the twistys now
Have you concidered the 360 brake, I am concidering it for next winters project. It really shows off the wheel!

BTW 1" lowered in the front and the rear came with a 1" lower suspension. On the fender I just installed it with the rear of the fender as high as I could get it with the slop in the bolt holes. Get em, you'll love them!

Get those rims yet? What are you waiting for???JK-I have a six piston caliper by jay brake and it has more stopping power than the stock duals with less nose dive!I also will get the 360 to completely show the wheel.i'm about due for the 5k service and will have the other spare disc moved to the rear wheel.

G Money...

I gotta say, the BOTY was well deserved...

You have one of the best looking RK's that I have seen. Your upgrades all fit together very well - and came together for a great looking bike.

I have been thinking about the 18/21 upgrade for mine, but need to put some more $$$'s aside first...maybe I'll do it next winter when I do my motor work...Also, kinda skeptical as to how the wheel set would look with my beach bars.

You can see pics of mine in the "Road King is Done" thread (general chat) section.

Things are looking good....and GMONEY you are right, it's not about nose dive...it's about stopping distance and those are to very different things.
