Default Motor Options

My 05 Ultra is going to have over 100,000 miles by next spring. I would like to have the motor overhauled, but want a little more getty up than I have now. Presently, stock displacement, Andrews 24 cams, SA air cleaner.

What are my options with out being to radical or lose dependability?

..I would just do a 95 (HD), or 97(Fuel Moto), kit...bump the compression up to 10:1, and a mild flowing of the heads..(05 heads already have bee-hive springs), and pick out a cam that works for what riding style you want to do...simple..proven..not radical...

A good 95" will run with most stage 1 103" bikes. Talk with a reputable builder and let him know your riding style. Be sure to express that dependability is high on your wish list.

Give Wes a call @ CycleRama.

To me this looks like the ultimate street motor for a bagger!

We have HDF sponsors who are engine builders and can help you chose, just call into the Tech Engine section and take a look around. I assume you are planning a bottom-up rebuild, which adds the possibility of using a stroker crank. Along with a big-bore conversion that could really open up some possibilities!

I say if it's running good & not using much oil to just keep riding it, it should be worth another 50K anyway.

If ya are gonna have it completely gone though It wouldn't be much more to go with welded stroker crank and 107 kit. Ya could pick up some better flowing 103 takeoff heads with ARCs to save on headwork. Maybe add some andrews 57 cams and smile on down the road with a more dependable power house. There are some good builders on the forum.
