Default Fairing

I've got a '98 FLHRCI and have been thinking if putting on a fairing after getting it painted maroon to match the paint scheme. Do y'all have any thoughts?

Lots of fairings to choose from, Dead center cycles, Woody's. Dragonfly, Hoppe industries. Each have their fans.

The one thing about all of them though is how much more versitile they can make the King. Strip it down to cruise or dress it up to tour, 1 bike to rule them all.

Buddy had a 95 King and went with a color matched Dead center cycles fairing with a full Alpine Solution for the tunes. Looked awesome, super functional and he loved being able to set up his bike for any kind of riding he wanted to do.

Thanks I like the look and the storage for radio etc. I like the idea about changing the look quickly. There are tons out there, thinking about the ones for radios but not sure about having 2 big 6x9's or the 4 5" holes. Gonna look for some pictures.

There has been an interesting thread dedicated to Dragonfly fairings. I would definitely read that before throwing your hard earned their way.

Forget the fairing, stay with a windshield. Do a search for "buffeting" on the forums and you'll see that most of the complaints come from folks with batwing fairings. They'll tell you that you can fix that with fork deflectors etc., but why create a problem you don't already have. And, personally, I think it ruins the look of a Road King.

I saw threads on buffeting but wasn't sure what they are talking about.

"Buffeting" refers to wind eddies that are generated by the batwing and can direct uncomfortable and irregular wind currents at your head. You'll read about glasses and helmets shaking etc. They are not a problem with a windshield. That is why the MoCo redesigned the fairing in 2014 and added the vent--to try to alleviate the buffeting.
