I know this is a bagger forum, but that being said I notice that alot of you also have bar hoppers. My S&S 107 in cold weather is a battery killer on cold starts and I am thinking compression releases. S&S makes a manual version that you pull a handle that is similar to a choke ****. Has anyone ever used this version. I don't really want the electric ones and I already have a trickle charge installed.

Just to make ya feel better, one of my riding buddies has a 120 ci engine in his Road Glide, and he has to use compression releases, so your thread IS germane to baggers, cuz I'll bet a lotta baggers have them!
are you sure you pull them out, manual CR pushes in to engage after combustion it pushes the button out for compression
The S&S website states that you pull it out like a choke handle. These are the style that the tank is too close to the rocker box to reach. It is actually connected with a cable.

I have the S&S Manual Compression release on my 2000 FXDL with a 117" motor. It's the model you mentioned, (you pull the **** out like on a choke) and yes, it works well.

My S&S 107 came with automatic CRs. Push the starter button, engine starts, ride! After six years they are fine. What's the connection between a trickle charger and electric CRs, I don't get that?!
