I put this in the wheel and brakes with no help, so I try it here. My front brakes on my Electraglide Classic stated getting a little stiff in the morning maybe a couple of weeks ago. A couple of squeezes and it seemed ok. It's been getting worse so now it's can't be ridden. I've taken the calipers apart and they are ok. This weekend I took the master cylinder apart to make sure the ports weren't blocked and that looked ok. With no fluid the plunger moves freely. I put fluid back in and loosened the bleeders on and I have all I can do to squeeze the brake and then very little fluid will come out. It does have ABS brakes. The service manual is of no help, It seems like there is an obstruction in the brake lines. I've always used dot4 but I have had it serviced at times. The fluid looked clean that I was able to get to come out the bleeders. Ive done all I think of to do. Could it be a collapsed brake line, I haven't taken the fairing off yet, I see there's a junction under the front forks. Any Idea's what to look for?
I'd suck out all the old brake fluid replace with new replace both left & right brake hoses with stock or braided lines the steel lines coming off the master cylinder should be good to go unless it has been damaged somehow Try one of these to replace your fluid with Mityvac Vacuum Pump - Save on Mityvac Pumps at Harbor Freight!
Good luck.
if you have ABS, the service manual recommends changing the brake fluid every 2 years. I know my 2012 CVO is due and i am trying to avoid it but know for the ESP to cover all the brake parts it needs to be done.
Sorry i am of no more help. ABS seems to be a dealer issue in most cases.
There's never been any damage, and this happened slowly, it seems like a brake line has collapsed or is somehow obstructed. I'll look into getting new lines
The fluid collects moisture over time, that's why you should replace the brake fluid and bleed your brakes every two year. Invest in some Speed Bleeders and your save yourself time and aggravation.
theres nothing wrong with your hoses/blockage in them, they last more than 4 years.. you've probally either have a faulty ABS unit or air still in the lines, different people have different views on flushing abs systems ,,, some say fi you back flush/bleed it can stuff the ABS up. best talk too a dealer/mechanic.. yes they need flushing every 2 years about,,, as it absorbs moisture..
Sounds a lot like mine and it turned out to be the ABS module. It was the rear brake that got hard to push down. I had changed the flulid with no help. Luckily ESP caught it, seems like 7 - 800 bucks

wouldn't air in the brakes make them spongy? It seems strange I can take the lines off the calipers and the hangle is still rock hard. I have done anything else yet I only have time on the weekend

Crack open the banjo bolt on the master cylnder line and see if you still have a hard or stiff lever. If so you now know you have a problem in the master, if not its in the line or ABS Module.....
