Default Pulled main fuse now no power

So, this weekend I installed the detachable tour pak kit on my limited.
Pretty easy install but this morning when I put the main fuse back in to check lighting I got a small arc and no power to bike, fuse looks good and no pinched wires that I can see. WTF did I do?

First thing I would probably do is unplug the connectors to the tour-pac and see if a new fuse holds.

If it doesn't blow, then your issue is on the tour-pac side...if it does blow, then you may have a pinched wire before the connector.

Use a multi-meter to find power loss, by tracing back from the fuse to the battery...

Also, use the mult-meter to check the fuse itself. Check all fuses, while yer at it.

arc ?

assuming the ignition was off, the only power flowing would be the radio memory and the alarm.

if the ignition was on when you did this, you may have miswired something and created a short, or just overloaded the fuse with a surge of power ( lights, fuel pump etc.).

in an overloaded fuse, the material will heat up, sag and part- breaking the circuit.

in a shorted circuit, the fuse material will instantly overheat and will spatter, possibly leaving carbon traces inside the fuse.

knowing this will help discern the cause of a fault

Well I was able to take another look at it this morning and check connections and wiring, everything looks good, nice and neatly tucked away.

So, I put fuse back in and turned ignition back on and everything is working fine. Yesterday when I went to turn ignition on it was in steering lock position,
I don't want to tell you what I think happened, but I will. I believe I turned the ignition from lock position only to the off position, yep! Only thing wrong with this theory is with ignition in off position the security light was not flashing, wondering if the system needs time to boot up.

Cabin fever!!

glad you solved your problem easily - we all are getting tired of this winter, and the past couple of teaser days hasn't helped.

Haha. We've all had moments like this I'm sure. Several years ago I had a Suzuki and we spent about a half hour trying to get it to start. Ended up being I had the switch on the handlebars flipped to off. Never used it and never thought to check it.
