Scorpion exo 900, iys a lil bulky, but the chin bar is removable, converting it into a true 3/4 helmet

I have the EXO 900 as well, the shield is supposed to be fog proof, and I was really dubious, but it has worked well in cold temperatures, no fogging. The removable chin piece is cool, but you have to have a place to put it when you take it off. I got it on sale locally for under $200.

I personally don't have a problem with wind pulling the helmet with the chin piece up even with a very low batwing/windshield

I just bought the Shoei Neotech and the wife went with the Shark. The Shoei fit my head better and the shark fit the wife very good. She also really likes that it can be locked in the back and not up in the air stream.

I'm not a helmet guy and in Texas we are not required to have one. During the years I was in places that required one and while in the AF, I had the cheapest I could buy at the time. When we set out to buy helmets for some upcoming long trips, I was surprised at just how different each model in the same manufacturer fit as well as between manufacturers. For example, the Schuberth and Shoei fit me the best. The Arai didn't fit me at all. The Shark seemed to rub on the front of my forehead and the Nolan didn't fit the crown of my head just right.

I set out on my helmet buying expirence to buy a Nolan N104 but just wanted to try it on. Where am I going with this? Go to a couple different stores and try on the helmets that you think you may like. You'll be surprised that your decision just may change based on what fits your head. I walked around Moto Liberty and Cycle Gear wearing each helmet for 15 or so minutes as a trial.

I ended up buying from Revzilla and their customer service was great. They even gave me Zilla cash for my entire purchase amount and not capped at the $300 limit.

The amount of lift or turbulence will largely be a function of your windscreen, and where the clean air pocket is. As for the helmet, you'll find that conventional modulars pivot the chinbar section up such that it is a few inches away from the shell when in the up position. Exceptions include the Shark and the Nolan N104. The N104 has an extremely clever articulating hinge that pulls the chinbar back against the shell when fully up; it is almost flush.

I have used the N104 with a Madstad windscreen on my old Road Glide Custom, and also on my current Ultra with the vented fairing, and have experienced zero helmet turbulence at highway speeds with either the visor or entire chinbar assembly in the up position.

"A little chilly most mornings" You all are under winter storm warnings tonight. Your not talking about 65 mile rides this time of year?

What FinalShot said on fitment. Try 'em on for a bit, 'cause if they're not comfy after about 15 min., then the rest of your commute will be uncomfortable.

I have a FF, as well as a modular and 2 half helmets. I use the FF and modular mostly for cold and rainy weather, so I normally carry one whenever I ride with my half helmet. The choice in modular for me was sound and quality and the Schuberth C3 Pro was my choice. It's probably the quietest helmet around, not to mention you can get the integrated communications. I'm planning on a NC to CA trip this summer with a couple buddies so that will be my primary helmet.

Not sure what your budget is, but get the best you can afford.
