Default What do you all think

I've given up on the idea of a street glide. Every day I wait adds a week or two to the wait. Plus for the kind of money they want for them out here I could get an Ultra Classic, if I could find one of them. So after talking with a dealer I am thinking of an EG Standard, installing the 95 big bore kit and have them black out the motor thats not chromed, throw on some rhineharts and put a stereo in myself. Throw on a backrest and luggage rack and it would still be less then the street glide. Now I just got to get the wife down to the dealer and on the back of an EG standard this weekend for a test ride. Then I'll see if I need a new seat. Also the salesman said he knows someone who would buy the lowrider and for more then I was going to ask. This is starting to work itself out. Any suggestions on other options would be appreciated.

Since I ride an Ultra, my opinion might be biased, but you can get the Ultra cheaper than you can upgrade the Standard to have the features of the Ultra. A nice compromise is the Classic. It has the features you are looking for without having to make a lot of changes that for the most part just lines your dealers pocket with your cash. Another possibility would be to check the inventory in Yuma, and maybe the Phoenix area and go pick up the bike there. Then you could ride it home too, and it would be broken in.
I started with the Ultra, and by the time I finished getting it the way I wanted it (yeah right, like I'm finished) it was the most expensive vehicle I own, and also my favorite.

If it were me I wouldn't go with the Rineharts with the 95" BB Kit. Rineharts are only good on Stock motors. I had a set on my 04 RK. I did BB Heads cams & carb with Rinehart true duals.I was hopen to get around 100HP & 100TQ. I ended up with 93HP and 97TQ not bad, but it was all in the higher RPM. It was a real DOG from 2000-3500RPM My wrench told me if I were to get rid of the Rineharts and put on a good 2-1 I would be alot better off. I ended up going with 2-1 Thunderheader and now have 97HP & 104TQ and it's all low RPM. It will Wheelie in First & Second gear and I can take most RICE ROCKETS from street light to street light. Thunderheader are # 1 in my book.

I have an '04 Ultra and if I were you, I would just buy the 06 Ultra, throw the 95" kit in it, and the pipes and breather and you will be much happier in the end. You are talking about at least 3-4K in accessories with the stereo, pipes, 95" kit, backrest etc.... My Ultra was 19995 MSRP and that is what I bought it for. I added the chrome front end, rider backrest kit, Stage I breather, Vance and Hines Oval Slip-Ons and a Power commander with the addition of tons of chrome goodies and I love it.

Good luck.

I totally agree with you. I would save the money and buy the standard. You can customize it to your liking probelly for less than the street glide costs. Go with what you want and do't let others talk you into a bike you are not happy with. Afterall you are the one that is going to be riding it. I personally think the Street Glide is way over priced for what you get. However that is typical with any new must have product.

Dealer in Yuma has all three bikes as of last week, give him a call before you make the trip over the hill. His price is always MSRP, and IIRC, if you ask he'll give you $500 on in-store credit. That usually take care of the Stage I and part of the exhaust.

Hmmm , I gues you are either day dreaming or you run into some totally green riders. There's no way you can take not even less than 10% of the sportbikes out there unless , like I said , you run into some guys that don't have a clue as far as riding. It is nice to dream from time to time though !

Hey Scott, what are the high-way pegs and hardware that you have on your bike. I have the adjustable ones from HD and I'm not happy with them.

Most of the guys that ride ride sport bikes can't handle all the power off the line, so they have to ezzz into the throttle. I take it Your bike is pretty much stock and you have no idea what it's like to lanch 97HP & 104TQ off the line. If you ever get the chance to go to a Bike rally where they have Harley drags you could see it in person. Becuse their is allways crouch rockets TRYING to take on the Vtwins. Just this summer I seen a DYNA beat a GSXR1000 in the 1/4 Mile both were in the low 10's. So like I said MOST from stop light to stop light, they are playing catch up.OH and yah I do like to day dream, but I do know how to lanch my RK.
