HI guys,
Need some input/opinions on handlebars. Looking to buy Yaffe bars for my 14 SGS and wonder if I should go with 10" or 12".I'm 5'-10. I have yet to see a bike in my area that has those and this is the kind of thing you have to be sure before you get the job done.
I was in the same dilemma last year with apes and I wasn't sure if it was going to be 12" or 14". I read posts and saw pictures and was still unsure. Until I sat on a bike with 14" bars and was sold. I didn't get the PY bars but, same theory. When in doubt go up one size in height. BR customs makes handlebars and have a interesting video that might help you decide.
Also you have to ask yourself if you want to extend wires and cables?
I went with the 12's and am very happy with them. You should be able to find a lot of pics and info on here for those bars. You will be a couple inches above the fairing with the 12's and right at the top with the 10's. With the 12's I could still use my stock mirrors but if you go 10's you will need bar mounted mirrors. There are also pics of the bars mounted on the yaffe website to give you an idea of the height
12" Yaffe's here, agree with everything KSGLIDEGUY had to say, also keep in mind Yaffe's tend to measure tall, 12's are more like 14's from another company, I'm right around 5'10" myself (maybe 1/2" shorter) and they are just comfortably below my shoulders. Only other thing I would mention, I had to pull them back toward me just a hair, when they were installed they were all the way forward, as most usually are, it was just a bit too much of a reach, now they're perfect.
Thanks Rottnram. Very instructive video. Like you, I guess I'll have to sit on a bike with those kinds of bars. Then I'll know for sure. Lucky for me, I'm going down to Phoenix in a month so I'll make sure I drop by Yaffe's place

I had the same delima between the 10's and 12's. Ended up with the 12's and couldnt be more satisfied. handling is awesome and look is even better. Mine is a '13, but same look.
