Default Long Ride

ok guys I have posted this before but I am posting again I am moving from oklahoma city to Las vegas NV I have decided to just ride my 2011 ultra limited to vegas I have never rode this far any suggestions I plan on taking it pretty easy maybe 300-400 miles a day was thinking RT 66 from oklahoma city but this sounds like it might be more trouble than its worth but I like the back roads much better than interstate

thanks guys

Be prepared for unexpected detours and rough roads.

Don't be too ambitious with your daily mileage, unless you want to do this as quickly as possible. You'll be passing some very interesting places along the way, which it would be tempting to stop and enjoy. It could easily take a fortnight if you make a holiday of it!

I rode to Albuquerque NM last summer from St Louis. Took I44-40 thru Missouri/Oklahoma.......easy peezy. On the way home I took Route 66 and it was very interesting. Lots of towns with 35-45 miles speed limits.......but I did get 550 miles in that day. It's also a trucking route so beware. The road is old and there was some re-paving going on.

I read your first post and understand your concerns. It sounds like you have a nice trip ahead of you. You just need to be prepared: Bike, physically and mentally.

Bike - Get it serviced to minimize the risk of any problems. There is also plenty of information on how to pack. You'll need to balance necessities with comfort.
Physically - If you aren't used to extended rides you'll probably be sore by the third day. If you have time before you leave, get in some extended riding hours to prepare your body.
Mentally - Google Maps calculates this trip as 1121 miles. Not the worlds greatest adventure, but it may be yours. Don't over think it. It's a nice, easy trip. Sounds like a good plan to do about 300 - 400 miles a day. Stop at the rest areas. Get gas before you think you need it. Stop at the points of interest. Take pictures (to post here later) and talk to people. Stay alert.

Enjoy. Who knows when you'll have a opportunity like this again?

Not sure if you have physical issues or not, but 200/day is very little if you need to get there without wasting time, unless you plan on sight-seeing a lot. Cant recommend one road over another, since i haven't been there. Enjoy the ride! And don't over think it, as was said before.

what answer are you looking for? Let me know so I can give it.
Have you ridden the Ultra more than 100 miles at one time?

need to know what your hesitation factor is and why you needed to start four posts to ask the same question.

I'd service the bike myself that way you can save yourself the cost of the hole trip by doing so & also knowing that it was done right.
