Taking the trip on the week of fouth of July. Can I comfortable do it in one day
900 Miles on new SGS. I figured I would leave 3 or 4 in the morning.
Can I ask some opinions, I am really looking forward to my destination,
I have a beautiful spot and a georgous girl waiting so I'd rather get there quick and spend than extra day on the road.

simple math 900/60=15 hours. of course if you stop you will need to go faster to make up time. more like 900/50 avg=18 hrs
no I do not consider that to be a comfortable ride, more like an ironbutt.

Have you heard of the Iron Butt Association? They run events to ride 1,000 miles in 24 hours. It ain't for the feint-hearted or ill-prepared! Take a look at their website and decide for yourself. If you do start out at 3am, you may find you don't get there until after that the following day!
Spare a thought for your gorgeous girl and take a little more time, to arrive safe.

Two minds with the same thought - you just beat me to it!
Another thing to consider you might plan on a certain daily mileage but if you don't look a head you might be in the middle of nowhere when you hit that mark and have to keep riding or get there and say to yourself I don't want to stay here. Can't tell you how many times that's happened to me a planned stop and once there I knew I didn't want to stay there and kept going.

Quite doable. I done 1530 miles from Tomah, WI to my home in ontario via Mackinaw bridge in 18 hours, and was in no rush till noon that day, since i was going to stay the night in a motel some place, then changed my mind and kept going
It's a long enough trip to plan ahead. Decide what sort of accommodation you want to stay in over night and see what is available at the likely places along the way. How about Amarillo as a good first leg, perhaps Albuquerque next, then Flagstaff, getting to Las Vegas at a decent hour.
ok guys I have posted this before but I am posting again I am moving from oklahoma city to Las vegas NV I have decided to just ride my 2011 ultra limited to vegas I have never rode this far any suggestions I plan on taking it pretty easy maybe 300-400 miles a day was thinking RT 66 from oklahoma city but this sounds like it might be more trouble than its worth but I like the back roads much better than interstate
thanks guys
Sounds about right for a fairly relaxed trip. 300 or 400 miles flies by... Even if your just putting along at 50 - 300 miles is only 6 hours in the saddle. Head out at 9:00 am, stop for an hours lunch at noon; do another 3 hours riding after lunch and you'll be done 300 miles by 4:00.... I usually try to leave by 8 and just ride till dinner time p, stopping for gas and food.... Normal days ride is usually in the 400 - 500 mile range depending on the roads Im riding and its no sweat at all. You're on an Ultra so it'll be a breeze... Like sitting on your couch for 6 hours.
Good tips - my $.02 worth to add. Pre-plan the route, so that you don't hit your max for the day and have to push on while too tired to ride because your 300-400 miles landed you in the middle of nowhere. HYDRATION cannot be stressed enough. There are many ways to carry a drink while you're riding - pick one and use it.
Your most important tool is your cell phone, but carry basic tools just in case something comes loose. Tire repair kit is a must and a way to re-inflate the tire. Proper gear for all riding conditions - hot, cold and wet or any combination. Sunscreen.
Ride a few longer days before you go - consider it getting into riding shape.
Beware: One long ride like this can be addicting. You don't have to ask me how I know.

that is the problem I am flying into oklahoma city to pick up the bike the I will be hitting the road but since I don't have any time limits or somewhere to be for a week I will just take my time
