I have an '07 RK and love the bike. That being said, on any ride longer than 50 miles the seat starts to feel a bit uncomfortable (not unbearable). I can only imagine what a real ride would bring on that seat. I was at the Harley dealer the other day and sat on a RK with the Screamin' Eagle seat and the backrest. That was so much more comfortable than mijne I couldn't beleave it. My question is, "Should I get the Screamin' Eagle seat or spend alittle more and go with a Corbin seat?" I know there has to be some of you out there that have tried at least one of these combinations.
There is a guy that will modify your stock seat and claims that your *** will then be very happy.
I'm sure someone will pipe in here with info on that.
corbin seats are good, butlot of $$$ and very hard in the begining about 1200 miles to brake-in. i went with a sundownerdeep bucket and i love it ride alday without butt going numb the cost about 270 at zanotti.com
good luck
I currently have a Mustang dual touring seat andI "feel the pain"on longer rides. After reading countless posts here about seats I placed an order today for a Corbin Classic Solo and backrest. Some seats seem comfortable right when you sit on them, the Mustang is this way, but after sitting in the same position for a couple of hours it is not that comfortable to me. Others find the Mustang to be fine for their needs - or butts in this case. You will find that everyone has a different opinion...and a different butt!
Have an 05 RK. Stock seat awful. First bought Mustang. No good. Had Sundowner, better, but still not all that great. Bought Corbin. Great. I did not get Corbin, because of all the statements about breakin time. Did not happen in my case. Was great from day one. My guess is that the seat depends upon the rider. We all have different backsides, and what fits one may not fit all. Best thing about the Mustang is that you get a 10 day trial and can send it back, so I would try it first.
Just dropped mine off to Allen @ Mean City Cycles this morning. He is going to lower the front about 2" w/ memory foam and lower the rear about 1" w/ memory foam. I have an '04 ultra and after about 100 or so miles it got uncomfortable too? I'll keep you posted as how good it is. Should get it back by Friday.
I'm a fan of C&C Custom Seatshttp://www.harleyseats.net/index.htm in Southern California. I just ordered my third seat from them for the Street Glide. From the timeI placed the order to delivery was only 8 days with the last one. Great guys to deal with; check out their gallery.
