Default With ABS without ABS?

I went to the Kawasaki, Polaris , Victory dealership today (as its right next door to the Harley dealership) .

A woman was looking for a motorcycle for her husband. I didn't hear the first part of the conversation but she asked the salesperson "what's the difference was between a bike with ABS and without ABS?" His response WAS "one has ABS and the other doesn't."

Being in sales my entire life, I really wanted to punch him in the throat.

Well, technically his response is correct. However I would think a bit more info would be nice.
Glad you didn't punch him, would have been funny though.

He probably honestly did not know. I've had discussions with many salesmen that indicated very quickly that they knew very little about the technical aspects of their product and even less about the sport of motorcycle riding.

As an anecdote, I actually had a salesman once tell me that dual disc front brakes were dangerous and to never buy a bike equipped with them because the brakes were so powerful that they'd throw you over the handlebars. He was dead serious.

Typically, I hate it when people say LOL. But when I read your story I honestly did LOL.

seeing that many dealerships are the 'powersports division' of large auto dealer groups.

we can only hope that the techs are better versed.

often not.

I really don't care for ABS. Several times now when having to come to a almost panic stop I find the bike pushes me through instead of bringing me down fast.
Making turns, better not go in hot because of this as well.
Other side of it is that you skid or slide. Pretty big bikes to be sliding sideways down the road!

I prefer not having them myself.

The back takes some getting used to, but the first time you come up on a quick turning light and as you are clamping on the brakes when you see that big puddle of antifreeze and the front goes into abs mode and you stop without hitting the ground because the front end washed out you really learn to love the abs.
