Default Primary experiment??

On my '09 EG the original copensator was banging when I bought it with about 22K miles. Had it replaced with a SE one. Now 20K later it was shot and replaced it with the newest and greatest SE on about 500 miles ago. I did not have the plastic thingy glued it. I wasn't happy with some "rattle" still there. Today added an extra spring washer out of the old SE unit to the stack. It was quite on the 30 mile ride home.
Wear on new Compensator at 500 miles.

Seems to be oiling ok?

Original stack washer.

added spring washer.

Also replaced the Haydon chain tensioner because it seemed to keep the chain too tight? Turned the stock self adjusting (over adjusting) one in to a manual one by having it welded.

Assembled, 3/4" total slack (like the old days).

Gonna do about 1500 miles next weekend, Should be a good test?

Wink

The Hayden is spring loaded, so once set correctly will take up any slack in the chain - but that doesn't make it too tight!

Not saying it was too tight or there is anything wrong with the Hayden (I ran them on two evos without problem). I really don't know? But I did need to replace IPB and there was some chain "wine" with it. Never had any problem with the old manual adjusters, So thought I'd give "manual" a try. I will say there is a little chain "slap" now, mostly at idle. But again, like the old days.

Default Question about your install

""I did not have the plastic thingy glued it.""

Just to clarify, you did not use the plastic funnels?

OK, since I'm a dumbass...

How are you going to adjust the chain "manually"?

With the wedge block welded, and 2 fixed bolt holes, I fail to see any adjustment there.

there is no adjustment any longer. i am wondering about the compensator spring pack and how well this is going to work out. this would be way to easy of a fix for the noisy compensators out there. manual primary adjuster is the way to go,set it and forget it.

compensators are like the weather. Everyone talks about it no one does anything about it. You are doing something about it. Congrats.
