Default Front End Leak

I have a 96 Road King that is leaking fork oil out of left fork, can't get in touch with my mechanic, any idea on if riding will do more damage. Handling and front end doesn't seem any different.

Any idea on what seal replacements will cost and if this is something to DIY?

HELP

Normally it is not leaking fork oil, it is grease that dripped down onto the fork from steering head bearings. The left side usually gets this because bike leans to left on kickstand. Look closer and you will probably see a trail of grease.

If it is the forks, you could damage the front fender if you hit a hard bump, happened to a buddy of mine, also heard that it could wobble at high speeds in turns, but I only heard the second part, second hand. Yeah, his fender hit the engine guard, and put a big dent in it! How many miles on the bike, has the front end ever been serviced?

My service writer(automotive) has a RoadKing Custom, that we thought for sure was the shocks, but like mentioned above, it was the grease from the steering head bearings. Wipe it off, and keep an eye on it, you will more than likely find thats where it's from.

It is red fluid, not grease, is more like brake fluid than grease, thanks for your insights.

If it's fork oil, you need fork seals - might as well do both sides - probably 2-3 hours depending on model. Touring bikes require more time due to the headlight nacelle.
