The seat on my 02 e'glide was comfortable and was on the bike when I traded it for my 13 Limited. From the start the limited seat felt a bit "off". It made a spot in my back feel hot. So I tried the rider backrest as it had made a big difference on the 02. If anything the comfort level got worse. After a couple hours I'd find myself moving around on the 13 seat, sitting off to one side, pushing further back, leaning forward to no avail. So we had some Chrome Cash to splurge with and I bought the Hammock seat. Why did I wait! After putting it on the bike we went on an overnight 500 mile ride to the casino. I found myself able to sit in one spot with comfort, no squirming. Also, it handled rough road spots a lot better. I was even able to remove the backrest [which pleased my wife and made her mount and dismount much easier] with no ill effects. I am 6'1" and 225 with a 34" inseam, so I do sit back in the seat a bit. The stock seat with it's high back just did not fit ME well and the Hammock seat returned the day long riding comfort. Also, the suspension system really is a plus and I do feel it takes the harshness out of the expansion cracks. For me it was a very worthwhile upgrade. My 2 cents!

This is good to hear. I just bought the heated version from a forum member and waiting for it to arrive. My stock seat on my 13 UC is ok for scooting around town but after a few hundred miles I get uncomfortable. I did put the adjustable backrest on mine and that helps with my bad L4. I'm the same size as you but 6'2". Really looking forward to comfort! Thx for the review.
Early this month I added the 53051-09 Hammock rider only seat. I wanted this over the newer dual hammock as this older model sits slightly higher which is fine for me. I have 500 miles on it and for the first time I have not felt I needed my airhawk. I tried Mustang Touring, Ultra before using the Harley seat demo program. That sold me on the design and this winter, I will probably have it re-covered in leather. I've got a 1000 mile trip starting Friday followed by a 1500 mile trip to Canada, followed by the 3000 mile to Sturgis ride. It will be nice to not have to use an airhawk for those long ride days.
It is big and ugly, except when I am sitting on it.
i've been playing seat hop scotch for a while, the stock seat stunk, the hammock wasn't much better, but the guy I sold it to loves it, had MCC rebuild stock better but still lacking in long distance riding, now trying to break in a corbin dual tour, who know maybe a Russel Day Long next????
I love my hammock also. Would any of you have a passenger grab handle installed along with the hammock seat? I noticed the Harley factory handle says it won't work with it.
