With all of the new electronics on these new bikes it made sense to buy it this time for me. I just had this gut feeling that if I did not have it, it would bite me in the a@@ this time. I just traded a '12 SG that I put some miles on in a little over a year and always felt like I made a mistake not getting the ESP and was just biding time.
Now I have peace of mind....recall schmeekall. Just ride and don't worry no matter where you are!

I bought my bike from a guy that had purchased a 5 year ESP. It included the paperwork and instructions on how to transfer the ESP to me. When I did that they sent me a new card. However, when I go to the dealer(s) they don't even want to see the card. The system tells them that there is an ESP.

I paid $1800 for the 7 year ESP (5 after the factory warranty runs out). So far I've broken even on what I paid verses repairs......And I have 4 years left on the ESP.
I figured since I ride an average of about 20,000 miles a year, it would be worth the peace of mind. And it has been.

You should have gotten an ESP # from the dealership. that's all you need. dealers are using these new fangled devices called computers... they can get the rest. all they really need is your VIN to find the status of your ESP contract.
