jerky throttle grip
My 09 Ultra has about 58000 miles on it now and the hand throttle is not smooth any more. When you twist it seems to hold back and then release. I am sure some lube would work miracles. I have lubed my cable bikes but never this new throttle. Is there any special way to take it apart and lube it so to make a smoother throttle response?

Check out some Youtube videos on grip replacement. It's pretty easy but there are some tricks such as putting a piece of cardboard between the brake lever and it's housing to prevent damage to the brake switch.
The stock rubber grips can get gummy, even when new. My 14 SGS had a sticky throttle at 1000 miles. It took the dealer awhile to get it adjusted right. But, some better grips (I just installed some Edge Cut made from billet Al) will not be as sticky. A metal to metal surface is slicker and won't bind in the turn/start housing either.

I shoot some dry graphite in there if I have it apart for one reason or another. It's not much work to loosen it up enough to lubricate it, but it might be best to have a service manual with you. You can lose a little part and/or damage the brake light switch if you aren't careful.
Before you start disassembling stuff, could you have inadvertently tightened up the throttle thumbscrew thing-a-muh-bob a bit? That could cause a similar symptom.

Did you replace it?
If you have not replaced the cable(s),I would buy a new ones.

There is some mechanical action somewhere, maybe at the throttle body. Lube it.
Or get rid of the electric system and install cables and grip.
What do ya do if the electric throttle goes out on ya? A cable can be replaced or rerouted to operate by hand. HD is making these bikes so when something happens, ya gotta call them and wait. No more road side repairs and go on down the road. Nope, gotta spend a crap pile on $'s to get back ridding.

No cables on this one as on earlier models. I watched a Youtube video and think I have a plan. Thanks guys.

The throttle by wire bikes don't have the thumbscrew I'm told. My '05 had it, my '13 and '14 didn't/don't.
