Dk customs fl-xied fuel management
I installed the FL-xied started the 15 freewheeler did a short 5 mile ride, checked codes and Em: P0131-- lean fuel on o2 front. Cleared codes went for 225 mike ride yesterday, trike ran great, no stalling, good throttle response. Came home checked codes and P0131 is back. Sent emails to DK CUSTOMS and waiting for a response. Anyone else install and have codes
Please Note: Transient codes P0131 and/or P0151 may be present in the electronic control module (ECM) after
the FL-XIED-10 is installed. The presence of these specific codes in ECM history is not unusual on bikes with
IEDs installed, nor does their presence cause any problems. The HD Service Manual indicates that these codes
can be “cleared and ignored.”
But I couldn't see how you would do that.
Personally I am not impressed if a device causes codes to be present. If you really do have a lean condition this is masking it. With the potential to cause quite a lot of damage from leam running I would be concerned.

Fine tuning of the O2 sensor signals may be required to optimize the fuel mixture when the catalytic converter is not in place.

DK Customs is probably working on an informational video..
probably best to call their customer service during their normal business hours .
I've been runinng the FL-vieds -10 since 2012 and there will always be a code stored. No big deal, ignore it. It"s telling you that the 02 sensors are out of range because the Veids are tricking the sensors to think they are leaner than they are and that causes the ECM to add some fuel. That is what they are suppose to do. I do have the adjustable ones. DK Customs has a video on their site that explains it all.
At the outset of using the vieds I would perhaps expect an initial report of a lean mixture but after some miles of self learning by the ECM I would not expect a reoccurrence of the error.
I don't know how long it takes the ECM to work things out but after say 20 miles things ought to be very close. It might be a matter of minutes once the engine is up to temperature as seen by the temperature sensor in the back cylinder.
I don't know if the ECM retains the information or if it has to relearn every start. In which case you will get the error at every engine start.
If that is the case then you would still have an error potentially being masked.

Just got a reply this morning from Wayne at DK Customs giving me a complete an simple explanation as to why I was throwing a code. Its exactly as "HARDHEADED" stated. Simply the Fl- xied needs to fool the ecm. Thanks to everyone for their input.
Now a different problem. Banging in primary, Harley dealer, under extended warranty replaced compensatory, bearings etc to tune of $1500 ($50 deductible for me). Anyways rode it Saturday 225 miles, ran fantastic, better shifting, no noise. Then Sunday morning, wash trike fire it up and its banging again. Back to Harley Sunday afternoon. I'll keep you updated if you're interested as to what malfunctioned.
