I am trailering my bike in for the 10K service have a 3 year unlimited mileage plan. The problem is when riding home from work the bike lost a lot of power suddenly used half a tank of gas to go
12 miles would run like kr@p , spit and sputter and smelled like a lot of unburned fuel out the tail pipe. Will post in here what fixes the problem; just hate this because I look forward to the ride to Kingman AZ where the bike came from for the services. Also maybe I will have an answer why it took three quarts of oil between the 5k service and the 10 k service.

If you have a PCIII or other power adder try to remove that first and try the bike again. The odds are an injector is being held on with a power adder or you have a bad injector if your running all stock electronics.
Yes the oil is syn 3, its what is in in the maintaince plan. would I be better off down grading to the dino oil for the duration of the contract?
Also the valves were too tight and adjusted now and the rear cylinder was the one most out of adjustment. The rear cylinder had lost most of the spark plug electrode and had a plug gap of in excess of 0.250 inch. For those who may not work on or know the gap is to be set at 0.035. Total all covered by the maintance plan > $750
Valves out of adjustment and distroyed spark plug; good reasons for preformance down the krapper.
Service writer kept trying to say it was the fuel, when I saw the Mechanic, he was realivied I towed the bike down. Might be a TAD WORRIED about a bike with valves out of adjustment before the first adjustment is due? when the Mech found the problems I suddenly heard no more about bad fuel. Wonder why?
David it sounds like the bike went very lean on the rear cylinder. I can't feature the valves being so far out they cause the plug to errode but a very lean condition may have caused the plug to burn up and a valve to overheat. So make sure they find what caused it and not just fix the damage.
On the oil I do suggest you downgrade, the syn3 is only about 40% synthetic anyway.
I got your PM, I tried to reply but it vanished I think or didn't show in my sent folder. Not to worry about the other, it really isn't that big of deal. Send me a PM from my forum and I'll give you my address if you need it. Or you can email me Max@1130cc.com
