Default Engine Guards

Will the engine guards prevent or drastically decrease the chances of totalling the bike after a crash by breaking off the foot peg post? I read on the forum that some bikes are deemed totalled after the foot peg post was damaged or broken off. Any ideas?

I did notice on my V-rod that the foot peg post/mount is a quite volnurable spot.

Its just what the name says: Engine guard. If you drop that bike your engine is protected. Thats where all the money is. : )

My footpeg broke off in the recent accident, I'll let you know what they say.
