Default v-rod prices

looking at the prices of the new 08 v-rod and just can't seem to figure out why the night rod and the plain v-rod are almost 1,700 dollars apart.

Also never have baught a bike new are there any tips you would give me? How much can you realisticly talk them down if anything? Not knowing how to work on bikes should i get different bars, pipes and lowering done by the dealer or by a different bike shop?

Any help is appreciated.
Regards-

Not too much help. Night Rods are hard to find. They really don't sell very well. I want one, I like the 180 and mid pegs.

You're paying for the big fat tire and chrome. Same like the difference between and FXD and a Wide Glide.

there is a night rod coming to a dealer near me in a month or two. The problem is I really like the look of the forward controls and i believe the regular night rod not the special is mid controls which i'm not really for. But on the other hand I want to put on some LOUD pipes and I dont know what to do about that if I get a special. If i get a regular night rod then I'll have custom paint and stuff done as well. Is it expensive for harley to put on forwards... hell am I even right that they come with mids?

The VRSCD NightRod has mid-foot controls and the VRSCAW V-Rod and the VRSCDX NightRod Special have forward controls.

Herr Monk is right, the price difference between the AW and the D is largely due to the wide rear tire and the chrome.

how much of a pain in the *** would it be to have wicked loud black pipes put on a special. I think it would look sick lowered another inch, neons, and a little custom paint work with maybe some drag bars. i like the look of the specials but as it has been said befor chrome is a mans' diamond

There are a number of options for black pipes, some are manufactured that way---all others could be made that way,it wouldn't be a pain in the *** at all.

If you can find and 07 Special with the old 1130 VS the new 1250 in the 08's you might get a few grand off it where you can do the "haggling" on a new one is the dealer set up money they charge this time of year they are desperate for a sale... if you cant get that try for in store credit
