If they're as great as most people who have them say then we'll have more VROD owners soon I think. It's hard for some people to get over that "It's not a REAL Harley" thing.

Yeah I think in time it will attract alot of folks like me who never envsioned themselves on one of the more traditional HD. Had a guy once that told me I needed a real Harley.. my response to him was this. "Why do you have a HD instead of a Honda?" He said "I don't want to blend in... having a Harley is about being you, being different and standing out" (he proceeds to tell me he has a softail chromed out). I then asked him what was more different and standing out than riding a HD that hardly anyone else rides. He smiled and said "right on man". I converted him atleast.

I have had a few other runs ins with the VRod... one guy said "that bike is useless... no reason you need that much power". My response to him was "No reason you need all that chrome". And yet another guy fussed at me for letting it get dirty. He proudly told me his Roadking was in the garage at home and that I needed to wash mine. My response was I ride mine not polish it, to which he asked how many miles I had on it. I said I have about 1,000 on it now and bought it in late July (this was about late August). He said "I have 1500 on mine and I bought it a year ago, you really do ride it!" I smiled and went yeah but was thinking what the hell else am I gonna do with it? Costs me too much money to let it just look pretty!

WBNiner,

Don't let the fools bother you. Ride it like you stole it, wash it if you like, hose it if you don't...your ride, your deal.

I run into the same thing with my vette. Fools pay $50K+++ for a car and park it in the garage. I drive mine every day to work...though I might start with the bike. I wash it cause I like to, I clean the bike because I enjoy it. It gets me outside with a beer, and I usually end up shooting the bull with my neighbors.

Be proud you have what you have, enjoy it, and as always, Ride SAFE!

I think Harleys have always at least been about the v-twin and the classic look (and alot more). The VRods are definately a v-twin, and the look seems to be exactly what a modern day or futuristic Harley would look like, and does.

Personally, I think they look great but I just prefer the classic look. I also think Harley has done it again in providing another model that is uniquely Harley, and just adds to an already terrific range to choose from. I cannot see any difference to someone preferring a Dyna over any other model, to someone else preferring a VRod over any other model.

They are all Harleys and they are all great bikes and I am glad Harley has been able to add to its already diverse range. That's one of the reasons they are so good.

Go the VRods!

I'm shopping and closely watching V-Rods for sale on ebay, the classified section of my local newspaper, and the cycle trader. Anything to watch out for as I make my purchase? I'm still debating and dreaming on how I want the paint to look like, Hmm........The best thing is, now it can be a business write-off

I wish people would get over that. I mean, hell it comes from the motor company right? If the motor company never changed we would still be riding their one cylinder wonder. It's got hd on the side it's a harley.

Oh, I'm over it. There's just a lot of people who aren't.
