Okay I have gotten off the fence and back in the saddle. Problem is I have only had small bikes. Had a small Suzuki 185 as a kid (25 years ago). Did twenty years in uncle sams canoe club (Navy Retired Now) and dreamed of a Harley the whole time. Bought a Honda Rebel 250 two weeks ago and putted around on it, but that just did not cut it. Yesturday I ordered a Harley 1200 Custom and gave the Rebel to my girlfriend. Man I can't wait to get it. My question is how hard is it to jump from a 250 to a 1200? Should I pick it up in a truck and practice on the 1200 before I hit the main road?

The biggest difference is going to be the power and there will be alot more on tap. If your not sure if ya should practice or not then I would err on the side of caution. Get some practice so your comfy. Welcome to the forum. Michael

Welcome from South Carolina!

My local dealer has a fairly large paved lot that people use to get the feel of a bike. The dealer also will deliver to your house free of charge on a bike purchase. If you are a little uncertain, I would suggest doing one of these.

Congrats on the new bike!!

I agree, it's not the bike, it's primarily the rider and his attitude. Go get her and ride her home - just be carefull and most of all have fun.

Hello from Michigan. If you have been riding small bikes, then you have the basics down. But ifn you are unsure of yourself, get some practice in before you hit the crazy, crowded roads.
