Sputter

I purchased a 1996 Ultra last fall with 2000 miles on it. It is fuel injected and when I first rode it , it felt like it was loaded up. i changed the plugs and air filter as well as the 2000 mile service. Now it runs fine as long as you keep up the RPM's up but if you let off the gas and get back on it, it kind of coughs or bucks a couple of times and when you stop at a light and take off again you have to rev it little to get it going. The first time i noticed this is after riding in the rain it did the same thing. Runs great under power but let off the gas and reapply and you get that sputter but if you shift down and keep up the RPM's no problems.

Welcome from Virginia...Sounds like idle circuit. Pull airfilter looking in throttle body key it on and then off and on. You should see the pintol come out and pull back as it resets itself for idle. With it open careful spray some gunk carb cleaner through the opening toward the engine. Try not to spray it straight up. There is a passage way were the valve is that comes out on the other side of the butterfly valve. Its just and air opening for idle air. When you speed it up with the throttle you are cracking the butterfly and giving it the idle air it needs to idle which is pretty coarse way to do it. I am just refering to idle and just off idle position. In your FP you may be refering to more then one condition or problem. I am thinking you get rid of the idle problem and the other may go away
