Speedometer problems

Default Speedometer problems
I have a 1999 1200C Sportster. I am having issues with the speedo and tach. The speedo will drop out to 0 and then come back. The odometer is still working but the needle drops out for about 3 seconds. Also the tach is very erratic. Not sure if the 2 are related, anyone have any ideas on what would cause this?
