Default WEIGHTS of Wheels / Tires (and Assys) for 2000-Later Touring Front Wheels

EDIT/UPDATE: 4/23/16 ................ (edit/updates: post#2 2/28/16, #9 3/11/16, #14 4/23/16)

The weight of a 16x3 9-spoke "Mag" wheel was brought up in this specific post HERE within this thread HERE.

So I decided to gather up some 2000-2007/08 16x3 and 2009-later 17", 18" and 19" "Touring" wheel weights (Excludes 17" Airstrike at this point)

It's not "perfect"...there will be a slight variance from posted weights because I didn't remove the wheel balance weights and the 16" "Airstrike" has 25mm bearings as opposed to 1" bearings in the other 16" wheels

Wheels - Lightest to Heaviest (weights shown below include rotors/bolts)

16x3 Laced Spoke - "Profile" ..... = 23.115 lbs (Includes tube)
17x3 "Impeller" ....................... = 23.37 lbs (38.725 - 15.335)
16x3 9-Spoke ........................ = 23.685 lbs
19x3.5 "Enforcer".................... = 24.645 lbs
17x3 28-Spoke "Knuckles"......... = 24.905 lbs
16x3 Laced Spoke - Drop Center = 24.97 lbs (Includes tube)
18x3.5 "Airstrike"..................... = 26.125 lbs
16x3 "Airstrike" ...................... = 26.36 lbs

Wheels/Tire Assys - Lightest to Heaviest (weights shown below include wheel/tire/rotors/bolts)

19x3.5 "Enforcer" ........................... 24.645 + 13 = 37.645 lbs
(Don't have tire presently...acquired weight from Dunlop Customer Service)
17x3 "Impeller" ................................................ = 38.725 lbs
16x3 Laced Spoke - "Profile" ....... 23.115 + 16.515 = 39.63 lbs
16x3 9-Spoke .......................... 23.685 + 16.515 = 40.20 lbs
17x3 28-Spoke "Knuckles" .......... 24.905 + 15.355 = 40.26 lbs
18x3.5 "Airstrike" ...................... 26.125 + 14.210 = 40.335 lbs
16x3 Laced Spoke - Drop Center ... 24.97 + 16.515 = 41.485 lbs
16x3 "Airstrike" .......................... 26.36 + 16.515 = 42.875 lbs

16x3 Laced Spoke - "Profile" 12.755 + (2 x 4.310 rotors/bolts) + 1.740 Tube = 23.115 lbs

16x3 Laced Spoke - Drop Center 14.610 + (2 x 4.310 rotor/bolts)
+ 1.740 Tube = 24.97 lbs

16x3 9-Spoke = 23.685 lbs

16x3 "Airstrike" 17.740 + (2 x 4.310
rotors/bolts) = 26.36 lbs

17x3 28-Spoke "Knuckles" 16.335 + (2 x 4.285 rotor/bolts) = 24.905 lbs

17x3 "Impeller" =
23.37 lbs (38.725 - 15.335 Tire)

18x3.5 "Airstrike"
= 26.125 lbs

19x3.5 "Enforcer"
= 24.645 lbs

Dunlop 402F MT90B16 = 16.515 lbs

Dunlop 408F 130/80B17 = 15.355 lbs

Dunlop 408F 130/70B18 = 14.210 lbs

Dunlop 408F 130/60B19 = 13 lbs
(Don't have one presently...acquired photo from ebay and weight from Dunlop Customer Service)

Because I didn't have one other thing better to do

Very interesting. I wonder how weight effects front end handling? I've had my eye out for a good deal on a set of airstrikes...

What "set" sizes are you looking for?

I have an 06 with the 9 spoke "wagon wheels". I'd like to try something different but all of these cheap takeoffs are usually for the 09+ rear wheel, I'd rather have a matching set...

Are you looking for a 16, 17, or 18" front? Unless you're looking for a 16" front, you won't find a "set", unless you or someone pieces it together.

I see. Well I'd want something up front that was a common tire size, I use the Dunlop E3 which I'm told is now the American Elite. 18" would probably look good, I think I'd still be able to use my front fender?

Yes, 16, 17, 18" Airstrike and 19" Enforcer Front Tire/wheel have virtually the same overall diameter because of different "Aspect Ratio" (90,80,70 and 60 series) Tires.

What do considered a "cheap takeoff" price range?
