At one time I ran Michelin Commanders, and I liked them good millage and very good in the rain. Then my rear tire separated at the tread. Michelin gave me my money back after two hours on the phone. After that I started reading about others with the same problems, then after that the vibrating issue. I switched to Dunlaps American Eagles they are good, but I did like the Michelins better. So are the Michelins still having problems?? I am using them on a Ultra Limited
This was my Last Michelin Tire

I ran Michelins for a few years and liked them fine.
Then saw a couple friends have trouble like you mentioned.
Kept Michelins on the second bike until I sold it but had switched to American Elites in 2018 and been plenty happy with them since.
They are on a 2008 Ultra
I put Commander 2's on my bike at the beginning of this years riding season because I heard the Cmdr 3s had separation issues. I thought they would be better with tar snakes and would not cup but I do have some slight cupping and they suck on tar snakes..Air pressure has been proper all along so I guess finding a tire that doesnt cup is not easy.
I put a set of Commander lll's on my '16 SGS and was initially pleased with them but that wore off quickly. I get a hum/vibration/buzz from the front tire from 58-62mph. I bought them online from one of the major vendors and they're not being too easy to deal with about it. I now have a claim in with Michelin & it looks like they'll send me a new tire.
I have a Commander 2 on my front wheel and it vibrates pretty bad at 65mph plus. Tried to get Michelin to replace it but they told me to pound sand. I have had it balanced 3 times and tried different shops to no avail. I am about to replace it w a Dunlop soon w only 5k miles on the Commander.
I had a set of Michelins on my 2010 Ultr Classic and they weee great. But this one front tire on my EG standard is not pleasant.
Anyone tried the Commander IIIs post pandemic? Wondering if they have fixed these issues? I live in Seattle area and ride all year so really want a great wet weather traction tire and seems like the C3 is well liked for that. I'm willing to give up tire life to get awesome wet weather traction. I have hated the stock Dunlap's my Street Glide came with, always breaking loose in the wet and not inspiring any confidence!. Any other suggestions for a great wet weather tire? Seems a lot of MFGs talk about rain channeling which is fine but that is less my concern. I want that thing to stick to wet pavement like glue and inspire some confidence!
Glad I read this post. I was gonna put Commanders on my ride next spring as the factor Dunlop's are sliding on tar snakes after only 2,500 miles. Read Commanders were the bomb, flexy & sticky. Wasn't aware of tread separation.
What's a guy to do? Keep buying Dunlop's every other year?
