Toward the end of the riding season last year I had some work done to my bike that included new tires. I was running Michelin Road Commander 2's, front and rear, and they were great. Terrific grip, fantastic in the wet and long LONG wearing so I figured that the new Road Commander 3's would be as good if not better - hoiw wrong I was
hile I can't put my finger on anything, the 3's definitely don't seem to grip as well as the 2's and appear to be wearing a lot quicker than the 2's.To be honest, the 3's look no better now, after only a few hundred miles, than my 2's looked when I replaced them after who knows how many thousand of miles. Perhaps I got a bad set or something, I don't know but I think I amgoing to replace the 3's with another set or 2's OR change the make altogether. I hear Avons are pretty decent.
I don't recall seeing Michelin fixing their quality problems with Commander 3's (tread separation, blowouts), so I went with Dunlop American Elites. Pleased with them after 1 season on them. Much better than factory 401's, that's for sure.
Haven't read a bad report on Dunlop AE's on here yet.
