Default 16" to 21" on 05 Road King

Have a riding buddy looking to go from a 16x3 front wheel on an 05 RK to a 21x3.5. Does anyone know how this will affect his spacing? I know it's a half inch bigger but what all does he need to do to get that extra half inch? Just change the spacer or??? Thanks

It will bolt right on. It doesn't matter that the wheels are different widths, the wheel hubs will be the same width. You will use the same spacers that are on the bike now. The only thing you'll have to do is egg shape the rear bolt holes on the fender. This is done so you can tilt the back of the fender up a little bit for a little extra clearance, between fender and tire.

Can I put a 23" front wheel on a 99 Road King without changing anything?

You could just bolt on a 23" wheel, using the stock fender and stock triple trees. I would not recommend doing it that way. A 23" wheel with stock triple trees will reduce the trail on bike, making it unstable at high speeds. People do it, but I would not do it.. Using the stock fender with a 23" wheel looks just plain stupid(see pic).

If you want to do it the safe and right way, you will need a set of raked triple trees, to keep the trail close to stock. You will also need a fender made for a 23" wheel, to make it look right.
