Fender Decal I designed to commemorate my beautiful wife, and life partner, Gini (Gina) who I lost to cancer in 1994. I printed it out on decal transfer paper, and sent it with the tins for Tom to install during the process. He did a great job!

R FENDER Decal scheme. All of this was sent to the shops painter, who unfortunately for me, was not local, but rather in St. Louis, Missouri! So I could not check on the work as it progressed, nor did I know the painter. However it turned out that the painter was well known in biker circles in the Midwest, had a website, and agreed to send me progress pix for my OK before going on to the next step. Those of you living in the Midwest might know "Painter Tom". I can't find him on the web anymore. I hope all is well with him.

After going to emergency and being treated for minor lacerations of arms hands, face and head, and having contacted the police to file a report as required by insurance, I called the insurance company and filed a claim. They told me to take it to the Harley dealer, but also told me that if it went over 'total', they would just write me a check and take the bike. He told me what 'total' was, as I remember about $9500! I paid $16K for it, and put at least $5K in chrome, and was not about to take it to Harley, as the front end alone, which I knew they would replace and not try to repair, would be $2500 without install! Plus new tins, wheels, tires, lights, cheese grater, wiring, and a complete paint job??? $9500?? Not going to happen! So I checked around local shops, and found one who took the bike and inspected it and told me he could do it for well under $9K, if I would accept a fork repair. As it was just a bend that his machine shop siad they could fix without breaks or welds, I agreed. So the redesign began. This was my new tank design, I took from a 50's era Panhead.

Bent fork, damaged front fender, broken fender rail.

At first the damage looked minimal, but on closer inspection, there were a lot of 'little' things like torn fenders, bent rims, ripped sidewalls, the worst were the forks, were bent.

My 'cheese grater' was dented, paint chipped, and unseen damages where gravel got into the the drive sprocket, and damaged the belt and the sprocket. Rear brake disk was bent as well.
