I would like to put a windshield on my 07 Fatboy for longer rides and when it's cool out. I'm trying to decide between the standard heightor the low profile (3 inches lower). I want the shield that will give me the least amount of head bobble - I'm 5'11". Any recommendations and experiences you can share would be appreciated. Thanks!

 

I have an 06 Fatboy with the standard height windshield. I am 6'3" and the top of my windshield in in my line of sight, and it is a real pain. However, if you are 5'11", the standard height may work. I would go down to the stealership and see if they have any bikes with the standard windshield and try it out first (I wish I did). Good luck

 

If you are 6'3" and the standard height windshield in your line of sight, then I probably wouldn't be able to see over the windshield without adjusting my riding postion.I would want to be able to see over the windshield without having to stretch my neck.Good idea....I'll have to see if the dealer has bikes with both that I could try. I have the HD Low profile smoked on my 05 fatboy and am very happy with it. No buffeting. I can ride with out glasses on and I dont even gey enough wind to bother the eyes. I'm 6'3" and the top of the windshield is between the chin and the tip of my nose. When I hold my hand out in front of my head I can feel the wind buffeting just above my head. I also bough a 5 inch lower that stock (2 inch lower than my shield) replacement shield from Cee Bailey and installed it and the wind hit me right in the eyes and forehead and shook the helmet.

I have read on this and other forums were riders hate the low shield and complain about wind. I think that a lot of it has to do with where you are located on the bike (realationship to the windshield)as well as how tall you are. I also have a C&C Seat and it lowers me and moves me back on the bike.

Since there is so much different opinion on heights either buy the tallest one you can get and cut it down until you like it. Or if you have a good dealer buy the lowest one , install the quick release studs and try both the standard and the low. My dealer let me try on the standard height shield and go for a short ride and then return it.

I am very happy with the low, I dont like to look through the windshield and I like the looks better .

 

I am 5'9" and I am looking through my standard height winshield with no head bobble at all.

I'm 6' and use the low profile. I look over it by a couple of inches. The standard is in my line of sight and I have to look thru the tall shield.

 

If someone reading this message could supply me with the dimensions for the low profile windshield. I would like to know the overall height, width and cutout to top.

Bubba...what's the HD part # on the low profile windshield you haveon your 07 ?

 

bubbalel - nice looking bike! The low profile windshield you have, do remember the model number? Is it 58278-95?

 

although i am shorter just 5/7 i have the standard windshield on my fatty. works great and no handling problems. good luck in your choice
