Default Polishing stock rotors?

Has anyone polished the stock rotors? Is it even possible and if so how hard will it be? I am getting ready to do the chrome fork kit on myUltra and have been thinking about the possibly of polishing the stock brake rotors while I have it torn down.

I know the best look would be from purchasing chrome, but I'mjust trying to keep the current upgrade in prospective financially. The chromerotors will comeanother day.

Last year when I was on the VRod forums, guys were getting rotors polished by these guys for $35 each. Some posted pics of the finished rotors and they looked nice.

Check out the "Do It Yourself" section of the forum(Chassis, suspension, brakes, front-end section), in there you will see springer's thread on polishing the forks............substitute forks for brake rotors and you're there!

I polished the wheels on my Goldwing just like springer suggested in that thread and they looked like chrome when I was finished.

I put some chrome rotors on a My last Fatboy I had , they looked great but I lost some stopping power. I don't know why but the bike sure did take longer to slow down.

I'd rather be able to stop than have polished rotors...

I had mine done for part of my "winter project list". Got both fronts done for $45.00. Sorta hate to use the brakes now!

Where might this have been at? Do they accept mail in orders?

Thanks.

Actually it was a local shop here in Ohio. I took mine off and traded them for the polished ones. Then he polishes them and trades to the next guy. I got his name from the HD shop. They also sell polished rotors. Much cheaper than the chrome ones they sell. Don`t know about the mail order thing. But I have also seen polished trade deals on E-bay.
