Has anyone had a problem or noticed this on there bike. I was informed by a custom builder in nj today that the trans on the 06 dyna with the 6 speed trans is the better product. The trans was made by jims. The 07 trans on the softails is being made by someone else and is not as good. From new i have noticed in fifth gear i would hear this noise. I never heard this on the dyna in fifth gear at all. This source also tells me that HD will not repair this problem as they feel it is not one. He just had a guy in his shop to have this repaired on an 07 bagger
They are helical gears, it makes more noise but there is not function problem. Also the moco decreased the amount of noise coming from the motor in 07 so now other sounds are more audible, besides the fact that it's a new motor all together. You custom bike buddy is making stuff up anyway because the 06 dyna and all models in 07 have the same tranny. What is it you want repaired anyway? Does it ride smooth? Does it get up and go?
i am not having a problem at this point just thought that i would ask. I never understand how a louder exshaust fixes other problems, i guess for some if you can't hear it it is not there. but with that being said. the custom builder is the owner of creative custom motorcycles of nj check out there web site.
5th gear has a 'belt-sounding' whine. Apparently after reading a lot of sources, it is a cosmetic issue, and not functional at all. 5th gear isa stronger gear, so the sound doesn't indicate a problem. It's not really that bad sounding, anyway. The Rineharts pretty much make the sound un-noticable, now .
