Alex Moore - Hickory NC
HICKORY - Police say the driver of a vehicle turning in the path of a motorcyclist killed Saturday could yield more answers about the exact cause of the wreck. The problem is, police don’t have a vehicle description.
“The witness thought they collided, but we have no evidence to that,” said Trooper R.E. Raper of the N.C. Highway Patrol. “The witness just saw headlights.”
Raper said Hickory resident Alex Moore, 58, was traveling north on N.C. 127 about 6:20 a.m. Saturday when a car turned in front him.
A witness told officers the car was heading south on N.C. 127, exited on the northbound ramp of U.S. 321 and turned in front of the cyclist.
“There were skid marks from the motorcycle,” Raper said. “It overturned and came to rest in the left lane.”
Moore was transported to Frye Regional Medical Center, where he died of multiple injuries.
Anyone with information is asked to call the highway patrol at 466-5528.
