Default Alex Moore - Hickory NC

We lost a brother on Saturday, March 31st. Please keep his family in your prayers. Alex is the kind of rider, that if you had a problem with your bike, he would pull over with you, get out a cigar, and wait until help arrived, and he was sure you were OK.

HICKORY - Police say the driver of a vehicle turning in the path of a motorcyclist killed Saturday could yield more answers about the exact cause of the wreck. The problem is, police don’t have a vehicle description.
“The witness thought they collided, but we have no evidence to that,” said Trooper R.E. Raper of the N.C. Highway Patrol. “The witness just saw headlights.”
Raper said Hickory resident Alex Moore, 58, was traveling north on N.C. 127 about 6:20 a.m. Saturday when a car turned in front him.
A witness told officers the car was heading south on N.C. 127, exited on the northbound ramp of U.S. 321 and turned in front of the cyclist.
“There were skid marks from the motorcycle,” Raper said. “It overturned and came to rest in the left lane.”
Moore was transported to Frye Regional Medical Center, where he died of multiple injuries.
Anyone with information is asked to call the highway patrol at 466-5528.

> Yesterday evening 12 to 15 members made there way over to Alex's home and paidour respect to his wife Jane, daughter Jesse and son Bubba. What a verysad time. Jane has ask that the HOG chapter escort the family from theirhome to St. Olive Lutheran Church. I would like to ask each of youpersonally to do your best to join your fellow members in this honorable
occasion. Alex has been a key member of this Chapter now for quite a fewyears, He has been a primary officer and held several other positions withthe chapter. If you did not know Alex personally please still try andcome. We are a family, a brotherhood of riders. We understood when thestatement would be made "if you have to ask then you don't understand"
this is the reason we acknowledge each other when we pass on the highway.
The greatest honor that we can bestow is to escort a brother and hisfamily to his final resting place.
Lets make the largest statement that we have ever made to Catawba County,to a fallen brothers family, to each other reaching out to fellow Harleyriders family at their greatest time of need.
Please join me and your fellow members Tuesday morning at 9:15 at BlueRidge Harley-Davidson we will leave around 9:30 and go to Alex's home thenin escort to the church. I would love to see the largest crowd there wehave ever had. Lets rejoice in our memories of Alex and just imagine himsitting on his ride with a cigar and smile on his face. There is no doubt
in my mind that he would be there for any one of us.

We had about 40 bikes show up for the funeral. There were about 80 members from the local HOG chapter and dealership (Blue Ridge HD) personnel. We followed the patrol car, and lead the family to the church. They had a special section up front, beside the family for us.. his extended family. The Eulogy was filled with examples of his love for riding.

The cemetery was beside the church, so the chapter members formed an honor guard for the family, leading to the burial site. They expressed their thanks and gratitude for us showing up, and honoring Alex.

He will be missed.
