Default 1200C or L?

I am looking at Sportsters to make my cross over from Jap cruisers.....

I like the forwards of the C but can't find a color combo around that I like. They do have L though....

Can a set of forwards solve the dilema? anything else really different?

An important consideration would be your height. How tall are you?

The suspension of the L is lower and you have less travel up and down. That is to assist shorter people. The front wheel and tire is fatter on the L but smaller in diameter. I would say your height and weight would be the biggest factor in determining which bike would be more suitable for you.

I'm 5'10 - I've always gone with forward controls with previous bikes.I'm not comfortable with 'standard' location pegs. The bad knees don't help any either.

I'm 5'10, 180 and the 1200 CI have is great. Besides, I think the trim (appearance) of the Custom is nicer than the Low.

i'm 6'1 220 and have 07L. forward controls made it good then i added mustang wide solo and that lifted me about 2 inches. but it was fine with forwards and stock seat to.

To me, the only justification to buy the Low and loose suspension travel is because a person is short and has difficulty flat footing the ground on other models. I certainly don't see the advantage of someone 6'1" buying a Sportster Low.

In answer to your question yes you can add forward controls. They are available in brushed or chrome. About 100 dollar difference.
I have a 2007 1200 L in the house and am debating the change.

I have seen quite a few people on here buy lowering shocks and forks springs to get the bike lower. The 1200 low already comes that way.I have an 883 low and love it.I'm 5'10 by the way.I would like it even more if it was lower than it is for cosmetic reasons.A girl sat on my bike today and said she loved it and could ride it.She asked if she could ride it and I declined.I didn't yell at her for sitting on it because her boyfreind that is a disabled vietnam vet was here.I was fixing his truck labor free.I guess my point is lower is better for most people and forward controls will let you stretch out anyhow.Look at any chopper. My neighbor that is at least 6'6 rides a chopper lower than my bike. The forward controls allow him to fit.
