Default jiffy stand

Does anyone have a picture or drawing of how the jiffy stand bracket and hardware are put together. I just got an '05 Road king and itseems like the stand moves back too far when down. WhenI put it down it doesn't seem to be far enough forward. And when the bike rolls alittle forward it really looks like it's going to fall over and the stand has moved backwards. Does anyone elses stand do this?

My Road Glide does the same thing .. I think it's inherent with the breed. I always make sure I've got that stand all the way forward when I dismount .. but it still gets the old heart pounding from time to time when it moves.

What you are experiencing is 'normal'. All of the jiffy stands lurchbackward when they are completly down. Just make sure you have the stand all the way down, and you should be fine.

Welcome to the forum. I have a '05 rk custom and love it. I am sure you will be very happy with the bike. post a pic when you get a chance. We all love to see the new pictures.

LMAO, when i first got my Electra Glide I freaked out when i saw this. Thought for sure it was going to fall over so I stood there and watched it for like 10 minutes, fiddling with it trying to figure why it kept rolling forward and looking like it was going to just fold up and fall over! But that's just how it is... Relax.

mine does exactly that too. I had it in a shop this weekend for fluid changes and ask a mech to look at it. he made sure it was tight and said "your good"

i park on a slight slope at work and watch it roll forward a bit everytime and was waiting for the day it just drops.

but i guess i am not alone

whew

Once the weight of the bike is on the stand it locks into its slot. It cant go anywhere.

I went through it too. look at the top of the stand, theres a square shaped notch that sticks out a bit. when you lean the bike over to park it, the notch goes into a "groove". if you rock it back and forth youll see that it is locked in. If Im on an incline I leave it in gear and roll it back first til it stops, then put the stand down. Makes me feel better.

My service manual has a coupledrawings of the jiffy stand, one being an exploded view of the components. The square piece on top the manual refers to as the "leg stop". When you kick out the stand you should be able to look down and watch the Leg Stop slide into the frame notch as you lean the weight of the bike onto the stand. A buddy of mine got his bumped by a cage which moved his bike 3-4 feet and it stayed up.

This conversation reminds me how the term "jiffy" stand just doesn't fit..

Ha! I just jumped forward the other day at the dealership when the guy put my 07 Road Glideon the stand andit rolled forward! I should know this by now since I've had it for a year, but someone else holding my bike and putting it on the stand made me uncomfortable.

My 05 Deuce does not do that.....
