I'm looking for ideas foran aftermarket tail bag that will mount on top of a fender rack attached to a Softail Custom.
I'm getting ready to order a softail custom and don't want to hang saddle bags. I'd like a little trunk space for a poncho, maybe some tools, but otherwise doesn't have toperform as"luggage".
In otherwords, nothing too tall, nothing too wide. I'd rather have it attach to the rack rather than trying to wrap the sissy bar. What have you folks done? Any photos?
Thanks IzzoQuazzo! I've been going dizzy with web searchs, and hadn't seen these yet. They look great, with my preference going towards the smaller & plain one.
Ideally, I want something that will fit snug against the back of the sissy bar, attach nicely to the fender rack, and then staymounted most of the time to hold my everyday stuff. LeatherPros looks like they are on the right track.
I like the LeatherPros better. It opens sideways like the ones on the Electra Glides. The Boss Bag opens from the back. The LeatherPro is bigger and has a keyed lock and latch. The Boss Bag uses a padlock. The LeatherPro has a sliding metal hook system to attach to the luggage rack. the Boss Bag uses leather straps.
I've got the Boss Bags trunk # 70.
I tired asmaller one first (#66) and it was a pain to get a full helmet through the door.
They exchanged it no problem.
Very good and fast people to deal with.
I like it, I used the bolt through the bottom sandwich mount.
and likeIzzo said, it uses a small padlock to lock it.
I couldn't use the side pockets because of the way my Hard Bags open.
But, I wanted to thank everyone for the replies and suggestions. I really like the Boss Bags. I think I will love #65 for my stuff, and will sandwich-mount to the fender rack.
Saturday I headed down to buy/order my Softail Custom. I will let everyone know.
