Extended Warranty - good news and a rare HD phone number!!!
OK,
I know allot of you are on the fence about the extended warranty - I was and hesitated but eventually went with it before my factory warranty expired because you can always cancel and get a refund.
They nailed me $1400 for five more years coverage on my '05 Ultra which nets out about $24/month (or a case of premium beer).
THE GOOD NEWS: it is fully refundable on a straight line pro-rated basis.
In other words, if I wantedto bow out from a bad experience or other reason after say 2 1/2 years or halfway of extended coverage, I'd get $700 back. I was told by the corporate HD refund department that the actual refund is calculatedona daily basis - not bad.
FYI - the Harley Davidson Extended Warranty Hotline phone # is:
1-800-527-7665 ext 411
In hindsight, I should have bought it at the outset when the scoot was new to save a few bucks.
Good luck - hoped this helped some of you undecided guys/girls out.
RE: Extended Warranty - good news and a rare HD phone number!!!
Cool thanks D...
A little off subject but I actually got some use out of the extended warranty. My wife hit a huge pot hole on her Street Bob, bent both rims real good. She was ok but it was pretty insane as the back of the bike went up in the air and she performed a kinda stoppie deal. Anyway.. the warranty includes road hazard. So I didn't have to pay the 1600 bucks for replace both rims, both tires, the belt and some other stuff that got damaged. This happened only two months after purchasing the bike. So the 1400 bucks we laid down for the extended warranty actually paid for itself pretty quick. And she has another 6 years or so on the warranty to boot...
RE: Extended Warranty - good news and a rare HD phone number!!!
Thanks for the post. I decided not to go with the extended warranty up front to see how the regular warranty panned out....if they tend to stiff me with the regular warranty, that pretty much makes my mind up for me as to whether or not to purchase more time. Otherwise, the dealer told me I could purchase more time as my stock warranty died out...that ismy plan for now. Thanks for the info though, I'm still millling around as to when I should get the longer pass...no hurry now since I just bought it in June. I'll keep that number in my back pocket in case I change my mind.

Good info... Thanks. I am a firm believer in factory warranties and equally as important knowing how to aquire the services that come with them. It infuriates me when we as comsumers have complaints and become victims of the trying toslay the giant syndrome. Especially at dealer level where there is a lot of discretiongiven to theservice writers. I know ifI don't do my job to someones satisfaction they almost always complain. NowI do the same.
