Default Road Glide Bars - Heritage or Wide Glide?

I am looking at making a handle bar change on my Road Glide and have been looking at the Heritage or Wide Glide bars. I know there has been several threads on this topic and I have read everything I can find on this subject but still need a little help. What is the difference in grip angle between these two bars? Has anybody tried both? What are your thoughts between the two? How about detailed pics of the bars on a Road Glide. I am just not sure about the look of the Wide Glide bars (mini ape) especially considering I like to run a short shield.

I like the look of the bike now but don't like the burn between the shoulder blades on long rides.

LOL. Funny this thread just popped up. I have just been scouring the past threads on Road Glide bar swaps. Seems most people like the Wide Glide bars. I myself am trying to find a bar that is the closest match to the stock Street Glide bars. It is one of those deals that when you know something works, stick with it. I rode a year on my SG with the stock bars and never once had a problem with numbing or pain in my wrist. Ten minutes on the RG and my right wrist is in pain. I am real leary about trying WG or Heritage bars and they not work for me.

I've used WG bars on both my RG's and installed them on many RG's & RK's for buds.....

RJ - check my gallery, there are some pics there where you can see the bars....

I suppose one could say.... it;s only $45 at to walk in & buy them, so if they didn;t work for some reason, at least it wasn;t $200 for chubbys or whatever high $$$bars are out there...

Acutally, they don't look like apes at all on a big bike.

you are right,,, there has been a ton written on this subject - people are getting tired of it... it is really up to you... I have had Wild1's 513 on my RG and they look and feel GREAT - these are the chubbie version of the WG bars... On my RG I had to move forward just a bit because of my short arms so I went to the 517's and have had them for a year now and love them... here is a link that will show you all the mesurments on the bars... I would suggest get the 513's they look great and feel great... but remember bars are YOUR choice... we all have different opinions.. some people Hate the 517's on the RG.... I love them and they feel fine...

Kinda like Women - we all like something a little different and that is a good thing...

I put Wild 1's 517 on mine...but used to ride an '01 Wide Glide and those bars were damned comfortable.

Don't know if that helps, but...

just installed Wide Glide bars last night, will be riding this weekend to see how they feel. Did a short blast up the road to check all the electronics, seemed very comfortable and I can actually see behind me with my mirrors.

Yep, I hear ya. I try to do all my reading before I ask a question and try to only ask questions that I didn't see answered elsewhere. I am asking for some pretty specific help. FYI - I can't get your link to work.

Nedster, I will be curious to hear your review.

Ice those pics were very helpful and those meat hooks look awesome.

Phil, I have studied your pics a bunch. I think I may take a trip to the HD shop to see if they have a Wide Glide and a Heritage on the floor to compare.

Thanks,
RJ
