Default Craftsman bike jack!!!!

I just wanted to give everyone a little heads up. My 07 almost took a fall today, thanks to the defective jack!!!!!!!! Take a look at the safety catch in the bottom pic.

Head's up to all......this is dangerous!

Glad you were able to save the bike! Thanks for the headsup on the defective jack... That little welded on rod can be fixed... All Craftsman jacks (red) should be inspected by owners and measures taken to prevent someone else from having an accident.

That's EXACTLY why I use a J&S.

I'm glad you caught the problem before it caused someone to get hurt.

Another heads up! The cheaper liftsall come with hardware grade bolts. Before you use it, go pick up at least grade 5 bolts and replace them all. I know a guy who bought a cheap liftat Sam's Club and dumped a brand new bike in the floor after two of the bolts sheared.

The way this thing is designed, you can't strap it until you lift it![&:]

P.S. : Did I mention that it is made in China?

I was thinking about the yellow lift. I'm wondering if it's as cheaply done. I'd think being aluminum that the welds would be different on it.

Thanks for the heads up. I have a similar jack I bought at Harbor Freight. I have used it several times without a problem. It is just a little jerky when I lower the bike, but not to bad. I will check the bolts though.

I have the same lift and mine has been great. I always let about 1/2 the weight rest on those latches that broke on yours. My only problem is the lift will just get under my frame. 2000-2005 Fatboy and Heritagemodels sitalmost too low for this lift. I don't know about the newer ones with the wide rear tires. Glad you caught yours.
