We just bought the wife a Deuce - the last 07 - just like the old Rice Krispy Treat commercials. Anyway, the wife doesn't usually stump me with motorcycle questions but tonight she did.
What is the history of the Deuce? Specifically, why is it called the "Deuce".
So far what I think I know is that it made its debut in Sept 99 and the last production model year was 2007. But nothing gave me any indication of what Wille was going for with the design or why the name.
I always kind of figured it had something to do with the model year.....2000. I always admired the look of the Deuce but didn't buy one until 2007. I like it. Ken
I thought it had something to do with the lines (i.e the long and low tank, guard and rake) being inspired by the lines of the old Ford Deuce, familiar with hotrodders.

As a Ford junkie I'm going with this answer whether it's right or not LOL! That does sound like a plausible scenario though.
I read somewhere (I think 100 years of HD by Willie G.) that the duece was supposed to represent the second generation of the FX softail or FXST2 which they just used the two as the "Duece"
