Default Need to relocate indicator (idiot) lights on FXDL

There was a post about a year ago showing in detail how a member mounted the stock lights on the dash between the speedo and the tach, anyone know of or have this information?

that was me!
Mark it out, watch out for your reset on the odometer, then go to radio shack and get some 12V LED's tap them on... your good to go

I just did this, relocated the stock FXD indicator lights. Same thing, but yours are a little smaller and easier the wayI did it.

I did a tank change, (to the lowrider tank) and wasn't sure what to do with the lights. Thought about doing it the above mentioned way, but wanted them in better view, and I'm not the best at electrical stuff. I ended up making a new "tank lift" (as opposed to the old one I made), and extended the top of it about 1 1/2" and put the indicator lights on it.

Turns out, idea was OK, but I am going to make a new one soon and raise it up another inch, no big deal, I guess you could call the first one a prototype.

I know, pictures...

OK, here's pictures of what I did....it was the easiest way I knew how to do it.

Pictures may be a little small, but I'm new at this resizing stuff, but hopefully you get the idea.

Just did this to a buddies bike last weekend. We changed out the bars to Chubby's Physco 10 inch rise Drag Bars. Used JRK5892's method and I gotta say it turned out perfect.

Didn't wire the High Beam at all, having trouble finding a blue LED....but plan on mounting it in the center of the dash between the tach and speedo once we can find a blue LED.

The color code is as follows.

Violet-Left TS- LED red wire to Violet, LED black wire to Black ground from circuit board.
Brown-Right TS- LED red Wire to Brown, LED black wire to Black ground from circuit board.
Tan- Neutral- LED red wire to Orange (+12V), LED black wire to Tan
Green/Yellow- Oil Pressure- LED red wire to Orange (+12V), LED black wire to Green/Yellow
White- High Beam- LED red wire to White, LED black wire to Black ground from circuit board.

Orange- +12V- Provides voltage to the Oil Pressure LED and the Neutral LED.
Black- Ground- Provides ground to the TS's, and HB LED's ONLY.

One thing to keep in mind is that the Oil Pressure (Tan) and the Neutral (Green/Yellow) get wired to the ground side of the LED. The positive sides of the LED's for these two lights get's the +12V (Orange). Don't ask how I found this out, just trust me!

The remaining wires use the Black ground wire from the idiot light circuit board. DO NOTUSETHE BLACKWIRE for grounding the Oil Pressure or Neutral lights, they do not need a ground it is supplied by the oil pressure switch and the neutral switch.

Wire each of the remaining colors to the Positive side of each LED, the grounds from each of the lights can be soldered together with the Black Ground frome circuit board.

If your LED's come with a black wire and a red wire (I believe that all of them do) then the diagramabove is how you would wire them up. Thewire diagramis in the service manual, page 8-50 or something like that, the chart can be a bit confusing, but you'll be able to figure it out. The circuit board also has very small labeling on itwhere each wire connectsthat will tell you what each one is.......

Hope this all makes sense, it really isn't that hard. Take your time when you drill the dash if you decide to go this route.
