Default my ultra now on the red sears lift....

Ok folks i need a little help here....

I have a lot to do to do my bike and it needs to be on the lift for several days. I have the bike on the lift now, but it is not balanced well. In order to make it stable I had to put a jack stand under the rear wheel. For what i am doing now, this is fine, but one of my future projects is changing wheels so this will not work. The lift is placed just in front of the cross member that goes accross the bottom of the frame. i am thinking if i move the lift back and lift at the cross member the bike would be better balanced.

I know you know the answer, please let me know how you all are lifting you bike with the RED CRAFTSMANlift.

thanks,

Artie

I have the same lift with no tour pack on the bike the best place for me is under the frame just in front of the swing arm on the cross member and it is most stable. Also you should strap the bike to the lift just incase. I am changing the wheels on my bike as well when I get themmonday and plan on using the lift not the table. Hope this helps.

Strap it down, I had the rubber pads pins break and let a bike slide back and bend a fender, I now own a pittbull jack and only use the sears for lighter bikes!! JMHO

I've got the same setup (Ultra & red jack) ............you have to play w/ placement of the jack (Fore & Aft ) for a good bike balance. Had mine on the jack all winter.....no issues.

Very Important: for something as important as as wheel replacement- I would strap the bike to the jack..........just my $.02

i always anchor the frt or rear wheel. to take the rear tire off for example i strap the bike to the jack -slide a couple cinder blocks or a spare auto tire and wheel (works well) under the front tire. shim with wood if necc and the run a tie down thru the wheel and thru the blocks/spare wheel. steadys/secures the bikejust fine. peace of mind.FWIW

I just started putting the rear arm from the jack directly under the crossmember. Works fine.

I use the Yellow jack, strap the foot boards to the jack. Works well and it came from a member in our group. At the lowest locking point the wheels are only about an inch off the floor.

That's where you want to put the jack...............right under the cross member. The bike will be balanced, and you won't have to use any extra supports to work on the bike.

Agree with Steve. I have the same setup with an Ultra and the Red Jack. Works well under the cross member on the frame.
