Default Sear Yellow Jack

I started using my new Sears Yellow Jack and am having a problem trying to find the lift/balance points on my EGC. I have tried moving it to various positionsunder the frame but it still will not lift level. At the present time I have the rear pad in the dog bone cross member and it is almost level with the rear being higher. Also the bike is very unsteady and will rock front to rear with very little pushing. I will be using the tie downs. I know that there has been all sorts of discussion on this topic.I have some questions that maybe the answers to will help me in using the jack safely. I am considering purchasing the Harbor Freight dolly and puting my bike on that for storage and cleaning.

Where do you position the jack under a EGC so that it lifts level?
How is the Harbor Freight dolly?

Thanks for your help.

The cross member is right where I put my jack also. You will get some rocking but you will get used to it. It about freaked me out the first couple time I had my bike up.

You have the jack in the right place you just bought the wrong jack. I already had the red jack which is rock stead and went out and bought a yellow jack because it was shorter and easier to get under the bike. I used it one time and took it back and got my money back, I was amazed at how flimsy and wobblie it was compared to the red jack. I guess thats the differance between aluminum jacks and steel jacks.
