I put Fat Bob in the title here so the mods would not move this thread, but I guess it applies to CVO bikes in general.
You can go to a dealer and buy 2 FXDC for around $26K, or 1 FXDFSE for roughly the same price?
I just can't understand the logic behind the $MSRP of the CVO bikes. Don't tell me it's the 110ci because this is not a very highly regarded motor, even within the CVO community. Why would anyone buy a CVO bike?
 \\;
Only reason I can think of is - because they can. \\; I know I couldn't justify it. \\; And I've had much more fun making my FXDC my own. \\; Not much room left to tinker on a CVO.
As crazy as it sounds, I bet if you took a stock bike and had the dealer put on all the accessories and paint and motor (including labor) that come with \\;\\\\\\;a CVO bike, the price would be pretty close. And factor in the premium for the CVO being limited production (because they can). They're not for everyone, but the CVOs seem to sell well every year. If it's exactly how you want it, it's probably not a bad deal.
I'm pretty sure I would be cheaper to buy a CVO vehicle than buy a basic stock vehicle and do the add on. Case in point is a 08 Softail custom at my local dealer.
The dealerships had a contest to see who could produce the coolest custom Softail and customers would vote for their pick. The bikes are for sale now and have no motor work done to them ar all. It's just chrome and paint add ons and the price is $26,500. At least with the CVOs you get a little better performance.
Price is decent. \\; I priced a FXD with parts, paint and labor and it came close to 40G CDN which makes the 29G CDN FXDSE2 a bargain. \\; I wound up with a FXDB however and will customize it as I choose.
