Default Prayers Answered For Wiring Harness Extension?

Came across this information in the Softail section. Apparently this harness extension kit just plops on to the end of your existing harness with no splicing or soldering. Have any of you tried it? If I get Apes for my birthday, this will be a godsend.

Whiff,

Have you had a look at your existing harness length. I'm rekon you might find you have enough.

When I changed from the stock apes to Chubby 504's (cable lengths about the same), I found that the problem was loosing the slack in the frame.

You might be lucky!!

Oilslick,

I'm gonna play it safe just go ahead and extend them. It'll be good practice.

Hog-fever,

You mean you've used this extension kit? Is it really that easy?

Yep, easy as it gets. Turns an all day job into a 1 minute job. They are even cheaper than the "do it yourself extension" kits I've seen at about $40-$50. The HD extensions were about $30 total for left and right sides. Good luck with your project.

Did you run the wires internally? If so, did you have a problem with the connectors bunching up in the bars? I'm planning on 16"s on my Bob so I suppose if I went with the 8" wiring extensions, I could stagger the connectors to avoid them bunching up. I think.

Any reason why the extension couldn't be added after running the wires through the bars? I've often wondered this but felt stupid asking. [&:]
