Default V & H fuelpak not fitting 06 bob

Hi World,

[:@]PLEASE HELP !!!!![&:]

Can anyone please tell me how the fuelpak fits in that stupid tiny hole under the seat.
I`ve just spent 3 hours putting it on,.. taking it off,... putting it back on ....... ETC.............
you getting the picture ?

part No V61005 dyna/v-rod 02-06

In the instuctions it says it takes less than 1 hour to fit,
Is there some kind of time difference here in the UK ?

It seems to me that the cable on the fuelpak is about an inch to short.
I did manage to connect both ends once, but then the electrics box would not go back in properly.
When it did line up, the FP was sitting out of the top hole in the frame and the seat would not go on!
I am just about ready to take this back to where I bought it and through it threw they`re window !!
I have been working on bikes for the last 29 years and its not often that something beats me.
I have read the threads on this wonderful site, & it seems that there is a secret to getting this piece of $%!T to fit,
Go on guys , help a brother from across the pond.

Best regards from ENGLAND,

Nige[&o]

Have you tried removing the battery box?
That was how I had to get my alarm in place.

I feel for you man. I had the same problem along with everyone
else who has installed the Fuel Pack. I don't remember any tricks
that it took to complete the install other than a whole lot of time
and twice as much patience and a couple of prayers. It took me the
better part of a Saturday to finally get it to fit. All I can remember
is that the middle long bolt onthe electrical box would never screw
back in. It must have one of the wiring harness in the way. Keep at it
You will eventually get it. I think you will be satisfied once completed,it seems
to work well with my Bob. I have actually gained about 9 MPG after doing
the install along with the Big Radius pipes and S/E air cleaner.

Good Luck,
Kevin B.

I do not have the fuelpak, but I have the PCIII and it has me installing it just under the computer (brain). I removed the one bolt in front (take cover off, opp. of the battery box, other side of bike) and the two up top and the rack (lack of a better word) that houses fuses and the brain. Then you can pull out just a bit and and then I was able to feed the unit just under the orginal brain. Took me a total of about 45min. to install. Not sure if this will help, just trying to help if I can.

Mike,
I just turned 8500 on mine last weekend.
I did all of the mods at the 5000 service interval.
Not really by choice, I had to wait on V & H Big Radius
for 3 months. It should get better after you break the engine
in a little more.

Man, I was just about set on going with the so called easier fuelpak. What do they say, " Its so easy it makes you look like a genius," or something like that. I do remember someone earlier having the same problem, then finding a "trick" to quickly make it fit, so try searching this site for who it was and give them a shout.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for all your replys, I must admit I gave up and walked away , had a few cans , better that than lose it and throw it over the fence.
Now that I am cool and all is serene I may try again.
Ive been thinking good things all day , hope that karma is listening.
Right , here we go , seconds out round two !!

ITS OFFICIAL, I AM A GENIUS !

Vance & Hines told me so in their advertisment,

I finaly got this fuelpak installed ,talk about a tight fit ! ( It would be an advantage if you are good at "key hole" surgery!).I`m still not 100% convinced that its exactly where V & H intended it to go but its in, set up with setting FP-0329, and the bike has fired up with no warning lights on.
Sounds deeper , more of a rumble / growl than before, gonna go for a short test ride now to check it all out.

SEE good Karma does work !!!

Still thinking good things ......Just in case.
